Co-Lab: Volunteer Information

What is a Co-Lab?

At The Magora Project, a Co-Lab is a transformative experience focused on Community Building and Building Community. It’s not just about gaining skills—it’s about exploring methods of collaboration and creating the foundation for communities to thrive together. By sharing simple, accessible solutions, Co-Labs empower participants to replicate and scale regenerative practices that work for all walks of life.

Our Approach
In a Co-Lab, we focus on fostering connections, teaching practical skills, and encouraging collaborative action. Participants engage in hands-on projects while learning how to build relationships and systems that support regenerative change. This dual focus on practical application and community leadership ensures that participants leave equipped to inspire action and contribute to a more regenerative world.

Core Values in Action
Our core values of Engage, Connect, and Collaborate guide everything we do:

  • Engage: Encouraging participants to recognize possibility, commit to action, and take accountability for meaningful outcomes.

  • Connect: Building trust and fostering partnerships by learning to communicate effectively, navigate conflict, and provide constructive feedback.

  • Collaborate: Aligning as a team to create shared goals and amplify the impact of regenerative solutions.

By focusing on solutions that are accessible and replicable, Co-Labs emphasize inclusivity, ensuring that people from all backgrounds can take part in regeneration. These experiences empower individuals to go beyond learning and lead their communities in building a sustainable and collaborative future.

Important Information for Co-Lab Build Participants

Thank you for applying to join the Co-Lab Build at Villa Magora! We are excited to welcome you to this hands-on experience in natural building and regenerative living. Please review the following important details to help you prepare for this event:

Remote Location

The Co-Lab site is located in a remote area of the Chihuahuan Desert. Access requires a vehicle with clearance to navigate the rugged terrain. Most cars that have moderate clearance can make it. Please plan accordingly and reach out if you have questions about your vehicle’s suitability.

Early Stages of Development

The Magora Project is in its very early stages of development, and this is our first time hosting an event like this. The site is also in the early phases of development, so participants will be part of shaping its foundation. Expect an immersive experience and be prepared for the rustic conditions of a growing project.

Accommodations

  • Bell Tents: We have a couple of bell tents available for shared use on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • Campsites: There is plenty of room for camping. Bring your own gear and plan for desert conditions. Which can vary from hot to cold.

Meals and Facilities

  • Communal Meals: We will provide lunch and dinner for all participants. If you have dietary restrictions, please let us know in advance.

  • Outdoor Kitchen: We have a functional outdoor kitchen and a cob oven for meal preparation.

  • Facilities: A shade structure and a compost toilet are available on-site.

  • Water: Participants must bring their own drinking water, planning for at least 1 gallon per person per day.

Daily Schedule

We aim to maintain a sustainable and enjoyable pace. Physical labor will be limited to no more than 5 hours a day, allowing ample time for connection, learning, and rest.

Weekend Resupply and Showers

There will be an opportunity to go into town over the weekend for resupply and showers. Please plan accordingly and bring any personal supplies you’ll need.
