Our Story

The Magora Project is sharing regenerative practices through education, media, and hands-on solutions to transform the Chihuahuan Desert. By rebuilding ecosystems and communities in harmony with nature, we blend traditional wisdom with modern innovation to create lasting change. Our work focuses on practical approaches like earthen homes, water management, and ecosystem restoration, while inspiring others through storytelling and education. This work is already underway, and with your support, we can amplify our impact.

Join us in building a regenerative legacy for future generations.

  • Life at Magora is a new experience for me, focusing on environmental as well as social regeneration. Living in daily interaction with a landscape that was previously abused, knowing how I use resources can make a direct impact on its healing, is an honor. Every drop of grey water that I direct toward a plant fills me with hope for this region that I love.

  • At Magora I feel welcome as a participant. The Hyperadobe structure method is new to me and given me confidence in using the method in my own building (should I chose). I'm also excited to see the progression of the shared leadership as it shapes the space and how certain occurrences affect the goal of maintaining brave space.

  • My experience at Magora is the first time I’ve been a part of an ongoing communal project that is also a space for exploring interpersonal relationships and feeling accepted and supported in ways that goes beyond the project. I’m just grateful to have the space to come together with really good people that make me feel loved.

  • Socially, living in intentional community has taught me the excitement of collaboration with chosen family. Our meals are such a beautiful metaphor for the uniqueness we all bring to the community. My favorite part of living at Magora is seeing the immediate impact my contributions make.

  • "Having explored and immersed into many different ecosystems, I found the Chihuahuan Desert something entirely new, a child-like awe that captured my curiosity. Magora was something I had heard about through conversations so to go and experience it was a beautiful gift. To live in a way where you are so dependent on building mutual relationships is a deeply intentional way of living. There's a practice of mindfulness in using the resources around you with reciprocity. I love that none of us are experts but curious students willing to share and build together."
